Viola Margarite Chambers

Viola Marguerite Chambers, age 93, of Vienna, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at the Capitol Regional Medical Center in Jefferson City, Missouri. Viola was born in Vienna, Missouri on March 21, 1929, to the late John and Bertha (Bauer) Stratman. Viola was united in marriage to George Edgar Chambers on July 7, 1956; this union was shared with three daughters. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Vienna, Missouri; she was known throughout the community for her baking skills and was always willing to donate pies and turnovers for any cause. She was a generous volunteer of her time; when she wasn’t working the food pantry, she could be found running folks to dialysis, doctor appointments, or raising money for the American Cancer Association; giving was in her blood, living with 11 siblings during the height of the Great Depression, through World War II, she never took anything for granted. She was a hard worker all through her life starting just after the 8th grade. Viola retired from the Missouri Department of Revenue where she worked as a Licensing Clerk for several years. She enjoyed fishing, baking, playing Pitch, and was known as the Farkle Queen to her family and friends. Viola had a sense of humor that rivaled none, she was devoted to her family, and cherished every moment that she spent with them. She will be lovingly remembered by all that knew her. Viola Marguerite Chambers is survived by her children, Jane Ostermiller and husband Daniel, of North Aurora, Ill., Diane Goedke and husband Robert, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Rhonda Henson, of Rolla, Mo.; brother, Jim Stratman and wife Rosemary, of Vienna, Mo.; sister, Irene Kampeter, of Florissant, Mo.; grandchildren, Shelia Morris, Daniel Ostermiller II, Ashley Hubbard (Cameron), Bobby Goedke, and Nikki Bilbrough (John); nine great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. In addition to her parents John and Bertha Stratman, Viola was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years George Edgar Chambers in 1998; seven brothers, and two sisters. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the United Methodist Church in Vienna, Missouri with Reverend Larry Sorrells officiating. Interment will follow at the Vienna City Cemetery in Vienna, Missouri. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at the Church from 5-7 p.m. Memorials are suggested and greatly appreciated to the United Methodist Church of Vienna.
