Ernest Darrell Byers

Ernest Darrell Byers, 81, of Holts Summit, Missouri, passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. He was born on July 22, 1941, in Los Angeles, California, a son of the late Ernie Carson and Thelma (Devine) Byers. Ernest was united in marriage on May 30, 1980 to Bonnie Biggerstaff. He was a 1959 graduate from Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, Missouri. Ernest was an over-the-road truck driver in California for six years. He was a school bus driver in Missouri for five years. He attended Faith Baptist Church in Holts Summit, Missouri. Ernest had a strong love for his music and faith. He enjoyed playing his guitar and writing several of his own songs. He was also an avid arrowhead hunter finding many treasures. Most of all Ernest enjoyed spending time and talking with his loving family. Ernest is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie; sons, Chad Carson, Cody Byers (Tiffany), Kenneth Recio (Lisa); daughters, Tina Bryant, Kathy Reifsteck, Melissa Shelton (Michael), Sarah Gilpin (Shawn); siblings, David Byers (Judy), Diane Hildebrant; along with 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Chris Byers; his brother, Gary Byers; and his step-father that raised him, Archie Byers. A Visitation will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. A Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Houser Millard Funeral Directors with burial immediately following at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Bill Dillon officiating. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Houser-Millard Funeral Homes to assist with funeral costs.
