Charles R. "Bob," Gillilan, passed away, Sunday, August 14, 2022. Beloved husband for 64 years of Mary Lou Gillilan (nee Kraxberger). Devoted father of Michael Ray (Lesley), Scott Andrew (Tracy) and the late Stephen Hale (Marta) Gillilan. Adored grandfather of Andrew (Caitlin Metz) Gillilan, Allison (James) Dreiling, Haley Gillilan and Nathan Gillilan. Great-grandfather of Charlie Metz-Gillilan. Dear uncle, brother and friend to many. Bob grew up in Higginsville, Mo. He graduated from Central Missouri State University and Tulane University. He was a U.S. Army veteran with a posting in post-WWII occupation of Germany. The Missouri Division of Health employed Bob from 1957-1992. He retired as Director of the Bureau of Hospital Licensing and Certification. He enjoyed camping, canoeing, traveling, gardening, and reading history. He loved his family including his great-grandson Charlie. In Jefferson City, he was a member of the United Methodist Church. He volunteered with the Agape prison ministry, Lincoln University’s Learning in Retirement, and Habitat for Humanity. He also shared his love of nature with neighborhood children. Memorial service will be at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road, at Holloway, Ballwin, Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be private.
