Mozelle Hutchison McKenzie, 87, a long-time resident of Vienna, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Stonebridge Living Center, Westphalia. Mozelle was born Sept. 7, 1933, in Cambridge, Nebraska, the daughter of Burton K. and Frieda L. (Alber) Moseley. She was united in marriage at her parents' home near Cambridge on July 10, 1952, to Jay C. Hutchison. After his service in the U.S. Air Force ended, they returned to his hometown of Vienna where they lived the rest of their lives together, until he preceded her in death on October 20, 2000. Later she was remarried to James L. McKenzie and eventually relocated to his home in Inverness, Florida for a number of years until he also preceded her in death on March 16, 2014. Mozelle was employed as a secretary by the Maries R-1 school district in Vienna and also drove a school bus for many years. She was a member of the Vienna United Methodist Church for more than 60 years, and a member of the Vienna chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a charter member of the Historical Society of Maries County, and an enthusiastic supporter of the society's activities, as well as the operations of the Old Jail Museum in Vienna. She was also the co-author, along with daughter Gail, of "The Cemeteries of Maries County", a comprehensive and well-regarded genealogical research volume. Survivors include one son, Barry (Patty) Hutchison and one daughter, Gail (Rich) Howard, both of Vienna; nine grandchildren, Rick Hutchison (Becky), Chris Hutchison (Hailey), Michael Hutchison (Reva), David Hutchison, Malinda Howard, Kindra Edwards (Anthony), Sarah Rowden (Matt), Ryan Hutchison, and Holly Hutchison; and 15 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Isaac and Emma Hutchison, Tyler, Emily, Jack and Ben Rowden, Avarie and Malcolm Edwards, Madelyn and Gracelyn Hutchison, Brian and Keifer Cripp, Emmaline Hutchison, and Jackson Hutchison. She is also survived by one brother, Kendall (Lola) Moseley of Bertrand, Nebraska and one sister, Dixie (Chuck) Tellus of Holbrook, Nebraska. Mozelle was preceded in death by her parents, Burton K. and Frieda L. Moseley; both of her husbands, Jay C. Hutchison and James L. McKenzie; one son, Kyle C. Hutchison; and one brother and sister-in-law, Lyndal and Gini Moseley. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 1, 2021, in the Vienna United Methodist Church, Vienna with Rev. Karen Alden, officiating. Interment will be in the Vienna Public Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Vienna Old Jail Museum or the Vienna United Methodist Church with envelopes available at the church or the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
