Samuel E. Roettgen

Mr. Samuel E. Roettgen, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2021, at Tipton Oak Manor in Tipton, Missouri, surrounded by family. Sam was born on August 18, 1956, a son of John H. and Angela A. (Kremer) Roettgen. He was married on October 31, 1975, in Jefferson City to Deborah Parish. Together they raised two sons, Michael and Keith Roettgen, both of Jefferson City. Their sons would go on to bless them with four grandchildren Rylie, Jacob, Blake and Ellyana. A lifelong resident of Jefferson City, Sam was a 1974 graduate of Jefferson City High School and that tradition has continued through to his kids and grandchildren. Sam spent 43 years as an employee of Westinghouse/ABB before his retirement in 2018. Sam loved his family and friends and never knew a stranger. He had a passion for watching his sons and grandchildren in all their endeavors. He also enjoyed trout fishing, collecting unique rocks and watching NASCAR races. In addition, he had a knack for fixing just about anything from cars to things around the house. Survivors include: two sons, Michael and Audria Roettgen of Jefferson City, and Keith and his wife Jessica Roettgen of Holts Summit; one sister, Joan Gill and Marlo Vansickle of Jefferson City; one brother, Ken Roettgen and his wife Linda of Warsaw; four grandchildren, Rylie Miller, Jacob Dean, Blake and Ellyana Roettgen; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sam was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Roettgen. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2021. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 16, 2021, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend L.P. Cook officiating. Graveside services will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. A webcast of the service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday for friends that are not able to attend by going to his memorial page on Freeman Mortuary's website.
