Harley Gene "Butch" Thompson Sr.

Harley Gene Thompson Sr. "Butch", passed away in his home, in the early hours of the morning on Monday, June 7, 2021. He was born on December 3, 1939, in Jefferson City. His wife of 62 years, Alberta Patsy Thompson (Robinett), survives at home. He has two children, Harley Gene Thompson Jr. and Sheila Diane Thompson. He has five grandchildren, Cody Thompson, Dwan (Colby) Siebuhr, Dawn Wydra, Domineck (Sarah) DeBrodie, and Sierra (Richard) Makoski. He has 13 great-grandchildren, Blake, Jaxon, Ethan, Harley Jean, Lucas, Hope, Liam, Nova, Gemma, Brenna, Elena, Remi, and Alanso. He has one living brother, Donald "Dink" Thompson and was preceded in death by his mother Johnnie Agnes Thompson (Martin; his father, Richard Truman Thompson, and his siblings, Milo "Pete" Thompson, Melroy "Knocker" Thompson, Kenneth "Skeeter" Thompson, A. Jeanette "Diddle" Hedglin, and Shirley Cook. He was an avid bowler and got the first 300 game at MidState Lanes and was inducted into the JC Bowling Hall of Fame. He taught youth bowling for 12 plus years. He was a fisherman and made his own lures and doll flys. He was a musician, a singer, and part of the Midnight Ramblers for 28 years. He enjoyed archery, cooking, and golfing. He got a hole in one at Redfield Golf Course in Eugene, Mo. "Uncle Butch" made jerky for the family every Christmas. He was a husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle, friend, and so much more. He was stubborn, proud, thoughtful, and creative. He valued his friendships and taught his grandchildren to be polite, tenacious, and honest. His great- grandchildren could talk him into almost anything and he loved exploring life again with them through their eyes. He will be deeply missed. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors with funeral services following at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
