John "Jack" Francis Hannan

John "Jack" Francis Hannan, 71, of Holts Summit, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021, in an automobile accident. He was born on January 26, 1950, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of the late Frank and Wilma (Peach) Hannan. He was united in marriage to Barbara Westhoff on February 17, 2016 in Jefferson City. Jack was a 1968 graduate of Carrollton High School. Soon after he joined the United States Marine Corp and was honorably discharged in 1973. He also served in the United States Air Force Reserve and retired after 20 years of service. In his civilian life he worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections and in 2018, retired after 20 years of service. Jack enjoyed playing pool, watching the Kansas City Chiefs, and watching action or western movies. He looked forward to road trips with Christy where they would road trip around the state and try out the local cuisine. Spending time with his only granddaughter, Persephone were times he treasured the most. Jack was known for his kindness and generosity to others. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by her wife, Barbara Hannan; children, Cathleen, Cynthia and Carrie Westhoff and Patrick Hannan; sisters, Colleen Rivers (Don) and Christy Warden; and granddaughter, Persephone Hannan (Veronica Stoecker). Jack was preceded in death by his children, Robert and Crystal Hannan; and sister, Cathy Pruitt. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Holts Summit. Military honors will commence at 12:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Central Missouri Honor Flight.
