Eugene Wilson Caine, 89, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Centerpointe Hospital in Independence. He was born on July 1, 1931, the middle child of the late David Ernest Cain and Ada Venille Tibbs. Eugene was united in marriage on February 10, 1989, to Lou Ellen Woods Hardesty. Eugene began his career in the upholstery trade and opened his own business in Jefferson City. After 12 years of hard labor, his doctor informed him he could no longer work in that industry. He began selling cars for local dealers and soon had his own car lot in New Bloomfield. Eventually, he moved to Independence and continued to buy and sell cars. Eugene loved to tinker and attend swap meets. He is survived by his wife, Lou Ellen Cain; four children from his first marriage, Bruce Cain (Lisa), Susan Cain (Kenny), Judy Cain (Greg) and Robert Cain (Nanette); step-children, Terryl Beck and Gene Beck; sister, Ruby Caldwell; brother, Don Cain (MaryLou); sister-in-law, Joan Cain; half-brothers, Dennis Cain (Louise) and Ricky Cain (Patricia); 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Eugene was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Cain; sister, Patricia Niederhelm; and half-brother, David Ernest Cain Jr. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
