Helen "Hank" Marie McMellen, 67, of Jefferson City, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021, at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehab. She was born on March 4, 1954, in Jefferson City, a daughter of the late Wilson and Angela (Hernandez) Camden. She was a 1972 graduate of Jefferson City High School. She later earned a nursing degree and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 25 years in area nursing homes. Her passion in life was taking care of people and that could be friend, family or patient. She strived to make everyone's life better in whatever way she could. Helen was a diehard Denver Broncos fan and sports enthusiast. She enjoyed reading Stephen King novels, was an excellent cook and loved soaking up the sun especially when she was mowing grass. Her favorite role was that of grandma to her two precious grandchildren. Her infectious smile, hugs and kisses will never be forgotten. Helen was a loving grandmother. mother, sister, aunt, friend and nurse who will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughters: Amanda McMellen (Matt McGuire) and Sarah DeLay; siblings Benjamin Camden, Julie Keating, Shirley Hilgert (Dennis), Elizabeth Francis (Jim), Mary Philbert (James), Steve Camden (Dalane), Regina Remmel; her grandchildren, Aubry and Eli DeLay; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by a son, Benjamin McMellen; and siblings, Jeanie Koenig, Wilson Camden and Arnold Camden. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
