James Clifford Eichelberger, 72, of Jefferson City, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 31, 1948 in Moberly, Missouri, the son of the late Dayton and Minnie (Earson) Eichelberger. Jim was united in marriage on June 20, 1970 to Cheryl Koontz in Jefferson City. Jim was a 1966 graduate of Jefferson City High School where he played football under Coach Pete Atkins. He obtained his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1970. Jim worked for Franklin Life which later became American General from 1970 until his retirement. He was a member of the Missouri Life Underwriters Association. Jim proudly served his country in the Missouri National Guard. Jim was a lifetime member of First Christian Church. He enjoyed playing bridge, drinking martinis and golfing. He was a member of Meadow Lake Acres Country Club. Most of his trips throughout the United States involved stops to golf. Jim was a huge Mizzou and St. Louis Cardinals fan but was a bigger fan of his grandson's sports teams. He is survived by his daughters: Jennifer A. Andert (Tom) of Ashland and Lauren B. Eichelberger of Jefferson City; grandchildren: Aiden Andert and Luke Andert. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl, and parents. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Private family funeral services will be held at First Christian Church. Interment with full military honors will be held at Riverview Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the First Christian Church or American Cancer Society.
