Mr. Troy Edward Vance, 40, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020, at his home. Troy was born on June 7, 1980, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Alec Gene and Edith Christine (Hamlin) Vance. A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Troy was a graduate of Jefferson City High School. Troy enjoyed working with the elderly. He served as a Certified Nursing Aide at St. Mary's Hospital, and various nursing homes in Jefferson City. Troy had a passion for everything music and enjoyed writing his own works. He played the guitar and was in several bands. He valued knowledge and took every chance he could to learn including visiting history and science museums. He was an avid reader with a passion for etymology and ancient cultures. He often said, "never stop learning and always seek the truth." Troy valued his family and treasured every moment together. Troy recently went to California, and it was his first time seeing the ocean, and he instantly fell in love with the water. Troy was a fun, outgoing guy and was extremely easy to get along with. He will be remembered for his kind heart and always seeing the best in everyone. Survivors include: his loving mother, Christine Vance of Jefferson City; grandmother, Erna Vance of Dixon; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Private family services will be held. Friends may mail sympathy cards to the funeral home or leave condolences online to be given to his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
