Gary "GW" Davis, 71, of New Bloomfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on October 1, 1949, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, a son of the late Harry and Alma (Klughart) Davis. Gary was united in marriage on December 31, 1997, in Jefferson City, Missouri to Cheri Schobert. Gary attended schools in Millersville and Jackson, Missouri. He attended college at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Gary was a member of the1140th Engineer Battalion, Missouri Army National Guard. He was employed for 39 years with the Cotton Belt Railroad, Southern Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad as a Locomotive Engineer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time outside, listening to country music, dancing and was an avid motorcyclist. Traveling all over the United States on a Harley Davidson, Gary met many people that became his extended family and he loved as brothers. His most cherished times were those spent with his family and friends. Gary enjoyed his life with humor, enthusiasm and excitement. He is survived by his wife and soulmate, Cheri; his beloved daughters: Shelly Weible (Doug) of St. Albans and Abby Vance (David) of St. Louis; his granddaughters that were the joy of his life: Morgan Williams, Nora Vance and Lilly Vance of St. Louis. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John Davis and his sister, Dorothy May Davis. The family would like to thank Dr. Donald Doll, Medical Oncologist at Ellis Fischel for his skill in treatment, kindness, sincere caring and concern over the past seven years; Hospice Compassus for their compassion and care for Gary and the entire family during this difficult time and the love and support of his friends. A celebration of life and inurnment will be held at a future date to be announced.
