Douglas Anthony Distler

Douglas Anthony Distler, 68, of Prairie Home, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics. He was born on September 3, 1952, at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Victor Joseph Distler and Dorothy L. (Schulte) Distler, both of whom preceded him in death. Douglas was a member of the Knights of Columbus, California Shooters Club, Annunciation Catholic Church and was a former President of the Church Council. He served in the United States Navy and served in the United States Marine Corps for 21 years. Douglas was united in marriage on November 8, 1994, in Pleasanton, Texas to Misty (Roberts) Distler who survives of the home. He worked in Naval Aviation Ordinance and later was a Registered Nurse. Douglas loved reading, news, fishing, hunting, watching Jeopardy, and most of all he loved watching his kids play sports and being with his family. Survivors include three sons, Matthew Distler (Kayla) of the home, Samuel Distler of the home, Jesse Distler (Michelle) of Jefferson City, Mo.; three daughters, Rachel Distler of the home, Stephanie Kasey of Streetsboro, Ohio, Consepcion Cook (Allen) of Streetsboro, Ohio; three brothers Donald Distler (MaryJo) of Jefferson City, Mo., Sylvester Distler (Glenda) of Jefferson City, Mo., Gerald Distler of New London, Mo.; five sisters, Lisa Anderson (Robert) of Des Moines, Iowa, Denise Gerlt (Steve) of California, Mo., Cindy Volkart (Terry) of California, Mo., Victoria Hankins (Roger) of San Antonio, Texas, Joyce Ziehmer of California, Mo.; and four grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Distler; and one sister, Ruth Bradley. A Private Family Mass of Christian Burial with full military honors following will be held. Memorials are suggested to the Mid Missouri Honor Flight c/o the funeral home. Per CDC guidelines social distancing is suggested and masks are required. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California, Mo.
