Shirley Jean (Jacobs) Choate, age 71, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2020, at Capitol Region Medical Center. She was born on September 28, 1949, in Jefferson City, Missouri to Orville Eugene Stieferman and Wilda Lou (Filer) Stieferman. As a long time Jeffersonian, she was married to Steven Jacobs on September 8, 1968, and together they had three sons - Shawn O'Neal Jacobs, Shanon Keith Jacobs, and Aden Eugene Jacobs. Shirley was a charter member of Concord Baptist Church, had a successful career as a self-employed beautician for 30 years and worked at Dillard's as a store assistant manager for 27 years. She was also a dedicated mother and grandmother first and foremost. She absolutely idolized her children and four grandchildren - Trevor, Olivia, Trenton and Shawn. In fact you could not have a conversation without Shirley moving the talking points to one of her children or grandchildren - they were her life. Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Orville Stieferman; and her sons: Shawn Jacobs and Shanon Jacobs. Remaining to carry on for her is her beloved son: Aden Jacobs (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) and his wife, Kelly and their children Olivia and Shawn; her mother: Wilda Stieferman (Jefferson City); daughter-in-law: Kimmie Jacobs (Indianapolis, Ind.) and her two children, Trevor and Trenton; daughter-in-law: Amy Jacobs (Corpus Christi, Texas); and her brother: Gerald Stieferman (Savannah, Texas), and wife Linda. Along with many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved and touched deeply. The family will be holding a private service on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens in Jefferson City. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made the Wounded Warrior Project.
