Mary Strate, 75, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2020, at her home. She was born on October 27, 1945, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Willard and Geraldine (Schepker) Stockman. She was united in marriage to Donald E. Strate in 1985, bringing two families together. She was a 1963 graduate of Helias High School. In 1980, Mary began working as President for the Missouri Beer Wholesalers Association and she continued with the organization for 37 years, retiring in 2017. From 1996 - 1997, she was the President of the National Wholesaler Beer Association Executives, the first woman to hold that role. She and her husband, Don, who retired as a Lieutenant from the St. Louis Police Department after 35 years of service, were very involved in the St. Louis Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and enjoyed traveling together until his passing in 2011. In 2017, she moved back to Jefferson City to be closer to her family and kept up her busy social life and became a member of the Eagles Club. Her greatest joy in life are her three sons and all the beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren that came along through the years. They will greatly miss her. She is survived by her sons: Tim Lueckenotte (Sarah). Randy Lueckenotte (Kelly) and Darian Lueckenotte (Amy); mother Geraldine Stockman; step-children Donna Holmes (Larry), Jean Burlingame and Jon Strate; siblings: Steve Stockman (Deborah), Linda Bax (Joe) and Rita Rackers (Rich); 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years Donald Strate; father, Willard Stockman; and son-in-law, Bill Burlingame. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Prayer Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Private for family only interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at 11:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that expressions of sympathy may be made to The Backstoppers Inc., 10411 Clayton Rd., Ste. 203, St. Louis, Missouri 63131.
