Harold John Porting, age 88, of Meta, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2020. He was born in Rich Fountain on November 22, 1931, son of the late Theodore and Cecilia (Albers) Porting. On May 12, 1956, in Meta, Harold married Rozella Hagenhoff, who survives at their home. Harold honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from MODOT after 38 years and was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church. In addition to his loving wife, Rozella, he is also survived by four children, Deborah Porting of Meta, Rebecca Bishop (Ron) of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, Tina Stokes (Stacy) of Jefferson City, and Ted Porting (Gwen) of Jefferson City; four grandchildren, Cory Porting, Theodore "Teddie" Porting, Grant Stokes, and Zach Stokes all of Jefferson City; two great-granddaughters, Ava Porting and Mia Stokes; two sisters, Mildred Burks and Linda Northway; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Porting. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta with Fr. Leonard Mukiibi officiating. The general public is welcome to attend the services while following social distancing guidelines. Those attending the Mass will need to wear masks. Interment with military honors will be held at St. Cecilia Cemetery in Meta. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 19, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Meta.
