Ralph Wesley Wheat, 72, of Eldon, passed away Monday, June 15, 2020, at his home. He was born December 6, 1947, in Jefferson City, a son of Jessie W. and Voneda (Bryan) Wheat. On March 22, 1969, Ralph was united in marriage to Evelyn Ruppel, who survives. Ralph served in the United States Army as a tank operator during the Vietnam War from 1967-68. He liked hot rod cars and enjoyed playing chess, studying the bible, traveling and spending time with his grandkids and family. Survivors include one son, Jimmy Wheat (Jennifer); one daughter, Pam Schmidt; two brothers, Denny Wheat and Roger Wheat (Vickey); one sister, Sue Belt; and three grandchildren, Kassie Quick (Sebastian), Dusty Schmidt, Makayla Jamerson (Spencer). He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Russell Wheat. Friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 18, 2020, at the Millard-Rekus Family Funeral Home, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Wright officiating. Ralph will be taken to the Eldon City Cemetery in a 1957 Chevy pickup, where full military honors and interment will be held. Everyone is invited to bring their hot rods and motorcycles to join in the funeral procession. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Central Missouri Honor Flight.
