Mrs. Jennifer Jo Chapman, age 59, true servant of Christ, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at her home in Holts Summit, Mo. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2018, she fought diligently, with faith, until she was called home. Jennifer spent her final days surrounded by family and friends, showered with love. Jennifer was born on October 13, 1960 in San Francisco, Calif. to parents Paul and Patricia (Kegwin) Downs. She spent her formative years in Dixon, Ill. After graduating from Dixon High School, Jennifer continued her education at Burge School of Nursing. Her ever growing passion for helping others then led her to study at University of North Dakota where she graduated from the Physician Assistant Program in 2003 and the University of Nebraska, Medical School, where she obtained a Master of PA Studies in 2004. Jennifer provided care as an RN at Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Mo. for 10 years, and as an Emergency Department RN (13 years) and Physician Assistant (five years) at St. Mary's in Jefferson City, Mo. Most recently, she worked 12 years for the University of Missouri as a Physician Assistant in the UM Urgent Care, Pre-op Clinic, and Quick Care Clinics. In 1982, Jennifer married the love of her life, Rollin Chapman, in Grand Detour, Ill. Together they raised a son and daughter, Jordan and Jayme, in Jefferson City, Mo. An adventurous spirit, Jennifer loved to travel for both work and pleasure. During her junior year in high school she traveled to Brazil as an international exchange student. That experience helped develop her passion for missions. Her mission trips for construction and health care included destinations of Brazil, Mexico, and El Salvador. For fun, Jennifer especially enjoyed visits with her family to Hilton Head, S. C. and proclaimed the beach as her "happy place." She also liked reading and strived to learn something new each day. A caregiver at heart, Jennifer was a mother to many and a friend to all. Jennifer is survived by: her husband, Rollin Chapman; their children, Jordan Chapman (Becca Chapman) and Jayme Voliva (Paul Voliva); three grandchildren; her sister, Melissa Kress; and brother, Paul Thomas Downs. Following a private graveside service at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens, a Celebration of Life honoring Jennifer will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, June 15, 2020 at First Assembly of God, 1900 State Hwy C, Jefferson City, MO 65109, with the Reverend Lowell Perkins officiating. All are welcome to celebrate her life with family and a reception will follow her service at First Assembly of God.
