William "Billy" Paul Schlup

William "Billy" Paul Schlup, 53, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at his home in California, Missouri. He was born June 3, 1966 in Topeka, Kan., the son of William and Kathryn (Meisenheimer) Schlup. Billy graduated from California High School in 1986. He lived several years in Columbia, Mo. working at various places through Advent Enterprises and The Sheltered Workshops. He moved back to California to be closer to his family in 2016. He lived at Deerbrook Apartments, where he enjoyed the friendships he built with the residents and staff. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying NASCAR racing, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs. Billy is survived by his mother; his brother, Robert (Lisa) Schlup; niece and nephews, Austin, Brittany, Drake and Aydan. He was preceded in death by his father. Due to the DHSS Covid-19 restrictions and social distancing, there will be private family funeral service at the funeral home and a private graveside service at the Evangelical Cemetery in California, Mo. Officiating will be the Pastor Russell Cobb. Memorials are suggested to Deerbrook Apartments or The United Church of Christ, c/o the funeral home.
