Laurie Ryland (Gregg) Duchardt

Laurie Ryland (Gregg) Duchardt, 60, a former Jefferson City resident, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020, at the home in Trimble, Mo. Born November 9, 1959, in Joplin, Mo. to David McMurtrie and Barbara Jean Gregg, she was the youngest of four children. A graduate of Jefferson City High School, she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Missouri, Columbia and later received a Masters of Psychology Counseling from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. She began her career as a probation and parole officer with the Division of Probation and Parole in Clay County, Mo. She later served as a deputy juvenile officer for the Clay County Juvenile Court. She volunteered on behalf of children with disabilities, devoting much of her time advocating for the rights of those living with autism. She was married October 22, 1983 to Frederick A. Duchardt Jr., who survives. Survivors also include: one son, Fritz Duchardt of Trimble, Mo.; one daughter, Courtney Jean Duchardt-Hennig of Fort Collins, Colo.; two brothers, Charles Mitchell Gregg and David McMurtrie Gregg, both of Jefferson City, Mo.; and a sister, Reba D. Gregg of Raleigh, N.C. Services were held Friday, March 13, 2020 at the Park Lawn Funeral Home in Liberty, Mo. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Audubon Society or The Nature Conservancy of St Louis.
