Ira Eugene Talley

Ira Eugene Talley, 69, of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at his home. He was born on August 20, 1947, in St. Louis, a son of the late Ira W. and Ethel M. (Beeman) Talley. On February 4, 1992, he was united in marriage to Mary Juanita Browning at Maysville, Mo., and she survives at the home. Ira served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a Morse Code Interpreter in the Department of Intelligence. He was a member of the VFW and the Kiwanis. Ira graduated college with a BS in business administration; he worked as a loan officer in Chicago. He retired from the State of Missouri, Department of Corrections, as a unit manager, after 22 years of service. He enjoyed family gatherings. His hobbies included reading, fishing, golfing, building black mussel guns, and going on Mountain Men retreats. Along with his wife Juanita, he is survived by his daughters: Charlene Moriarty (husband Scott) of Columbia and Carolyn Martin (husband Beau) of Grandview; sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Hamblin of Holts Summit and Linda Rogers (husband Kenneth) of Belleville, Ill.; granddaughters: Chastity Rapier and Mikala Davidson; and two great-grandchildren. Ira was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law: Paul Hamblin. Graveside Services with Full Military Honors will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, July 31, 2017, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
