Marie Wieberg

Marie K. (Buechter) Wieberg, age 95, of St. Anthony, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 28, 2016, with family by her side. She was born in St. Anthony on May 8, 1920, daughter of the late Herman F. and Rosa A. (Bax) Buechter. On June 6, 1942, in St. Anthony, Marie married Leo John Wieberg, who preceded her in death on October 22, 2005. Marie worked as a seamstress at L.B. Manufacturing Company in Iberia for 12 years. With the help of her daughters she cleaned the church weekly for five years. She enjoyed playing dominoes and card games with her family and friends. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed quilting in her spare time. Marie was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in St. Anthony and of the St. Anthony Senior Citizen. She was a past member of the Altar Society. She is survived by eight daughters, Rita Stahl and husband Larry of Kansas City, Kansas, Maryln Luetkemeyer and husband Richard of St. Charles, Jane Dalba and husband Carmen of St. Louis, Loretta Kolb and husband Bill of Jefferson City, Lorraine Riley and husband Jack of Jefferson City, Evelyn Wieberg and Donnie Holtmeyer of Jefferson City, Virginia Kirvan and Brian Gerard of Sunrise Beach, and Freda Schanzmeyer and husband Mike of Taos; one daughter-in-law, Margie Wieberg; 26 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and loving husband, Leo, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Nick Wieberg and Joe Wieberg; daughter-in-law, Angie Wieberg; two grandchildren; one sister, Martha Evers; and two brothers, Victor Buechter and Herman Buechter Jr. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 1, 2016, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in St. Anthony. Rev. Jeremy Secrist will officiate. Interment will be in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m., with a prayer service at 4 p.m., on Sunday, January 31, at St. Anthony Parish Hall. Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Samaritan Center, 1310 E. McCarty St., Jefferson City, MO 65101.
