Joe Moore

Joe L. Moore, 84, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at his residence in California, Mo. He was born on December 30, 1931, at Fortuna, Mo., to Orva and Beulah (Marriott) Moore, both of whom preceded him in death. Joe was married on September 8, 1951, to Juanita Bennett, who preceded him in death on October 26, 1998. He worked as a bulldozer operator for 62 years and was owner of Moore's Dozing. He was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Jefferson City, but he currently attended First Baptist Church of California. Joe enjoyed bulldozing and working on cars, spending time with his family, taking care of his dogs, reading his Bible and studying his Sunday School Lesson, and listening to old time Gospel Music. Joe is survived by three daughters: Jo Elaine Winkler of California, Linda Baer (Brad) of California, Pattie Moore of California; one brother, Rev. L. Jack ( Shirley) Moore of Springfield; six grandchildren: Tammy (Micky) Sommerer, Chris (Tasha) Winkler, Angie Butts Althoff (Lance), Julie (John) Bolinger, Mark (Jill) Hampton, Nicole (Will) Fast; 19 great-grandchildren, and one special friend: Mary Lou Jackson. He was preceded in death by one grandson-in-law, Travis Butts. Visitation will be at 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the First Baptist Church Sanctuary in California. The Funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at the First Baptist Church Sanctuary in California. Officiating will be Rev. Greg Morrow and Rev. Roy Bennett. Burial will be at the California City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church Organ Fund, c/o funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bowlin - Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak St. California, Mo.
