Jerry Oliver

Jerry Lee Oliver, 71, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 9, 1944, in Jefferson City, Missouri, a son of William and Lillian (Shouse) Oliver. He was united in marriage on April 18, 1970, to Carolyn Rose Luebbert, who survives at home. Jerry was a 1962 graduate of Jefferson City High School. He earned a Bachelors' of Arts degree from Columbia College. He began active duty service after being drafted to the United States Army in 1969. He served honorably in Vietnam and was awarded a Bronze Star for his service during the Vietnam War. He continued on in the Missouri Army National Guard and retired after 22 years. He enjoyed reading, fishing and computer games. He was a member of the American Legion Post 5 and the V.F.W. Post 1003. Jerry is also survived by his daughter, Marcia Ann Oliver; one granddaughter, Kayla Renee Oliver; and one great- granddaughter, Lillian May Giboney. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday January 27, 2016, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home in Jefferson City. Funeral Services will be held at Houser-Millard Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m., Thursday January 28, 2016 with the Missouri National Guard Chaplain officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice Compassus.
