Melva Olive Hull

Melva Olive Hull, 99, of Chamois, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 22, 2016, at Westphalia Hills Nursing Home. She was born July 12, 1916, in Chamois, a daughter of Eugene H. and Myrtle (Laughlin) Perrey. She was united in marriage June 12, 1935, to Richard M. Hull, who preceded her in death on March 11, 1953. Melva was a 1934 graduate of Chamois High School and lived her entire life in Chamois. She had been employed at several of the factories in Chamois, retiring in 1981 from Langenberg Hat Company, after 22 years as office manager. She was a member of the Chamois United Methodist Church and the Osage County Historical Society. In her later years, Melva loved to go fishing with her long time friend, Oral Baker, who preceded her in death. Melva is survived by numerous cousins, including: Sheila Kenyon of Lee's Summit, Mo.; Diana Franken of Linn, Mo.; James Matthews of Chamois, Mo.; Edward Matthews of Chamois, Mo.; a special neighbor: Steve White, who helped with her care for 25 years. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Huel E. Perrey. Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 25, 2016, at the Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Chamois. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 25, 2016, at the Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Chamois with Rev. Steve Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the Oakland Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Chamois Elementary School Library.
