Hugo Monnig

Hugo Monnig, 93, of Palm Springs, California, died December 25, 2015, at his home . Born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1922, Mr. Monnig graduated from The John Burroughs School, Harvard University Class of 1944 and University of Virginia Law School in 1950. He served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945. He married Lulie Engelsmann of St. Louis in 1947. Mr. Monnig practiced law in New York City at Milbank, Tweed, Hope, Hadley & McCloy LLP and Shearman & Sterling LLP, and afterwards as a General Counsel for Kennecott Corporation. He was a member of the Board of Directors for Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield. He is survived by his brother, George Monnig, as well as his three daughters: Lore Monnig, Lindsay Holbrook and Lisa Miller. He is also survived by his three grandchildren. Mr. Monnig was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, as well as by his second wife and third wives, Jacqueline Forsythe and Lisa Powers. Graveside service will be 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at Riverview Cemetery in Jefferson City with the Rev. Christopher Aubucheon officiating.
