Margaret Griffith

Mrs. Margaret English Griffith, age 87 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Saturday, January 16, 2016, at her home. Margaret was born December 11, 1928 in Springfield, Mo., the daughter of Fred H. and Alma B. Deaton English. She was married on August 15, 1948 in Jefferson City, Mo., to John L. Griffith. She was a 1946 graduate of Jefferson City High School and a 1948 graduate of Christian College in Columbia, Mo. A homemaker, she had been employed as a secretary with the Webster Groves Public Schools and also at the First Christian Church in Eldon for several years. John and Margaret returned to Jefferson City in 2004 after 23 years at the Lake of the Ozarks. She was a member of the First Christian Church and Chapter HM, P.E.O. She loved to read but, most importantly, she loved spending time with her family. Survivors include: her husband of 67 years, John Griffith; three daughters, Georgia Griffith of Worcester, Mass., Deborah Noland of Warrensburg, Mo., and Karen Ducharme and her husband Dewey of Stow, Ohio; four grandchildren, Quint Noland and his wife Liz of Leawood, Kan., Erek Noland his wife Angela of Kearney, Mo., Dustin Ducharme and his wife Naomi of Denver, Colo., and David Ducharme and his wife Kathryn of Denver, Colo.; six great-grandchildren, Madeline Noland, Broderick Noland, Luke Noland, Grant Noland, Mei Ducharme, and Elle Ducharme. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Deaton English; and one sister, Emily English. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 22, 2016. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 22, 2016 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Beau Underwood officiating. Interment will be at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested at the First Christian Church, 327 E. Capitol Ave., Jefferson City, MO 65101.
