Eva Southern

Eva Jean Southern, 86, of Jefferson City, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at her home. She was born on December 17, 1929, in Carrolton, Missouri, the daughter of Roland and Eva Cox, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married on September 29, 1965, to Jerry Southern in New Bloomfield. He preceded her in death on August 18, 1997. She was a wonderful homemaker and at one time a child care provider. Eva enjoyed feeding and watching birds, art, coloring, genealogy and spending time with her family. She is survived by her children: Steve Doss of Columbia, Larry Doss of Colorado, Linda Harris of Bosworth, Joe Southern of Jefferson City and Penny Southern of Jefferson City; one brother: Billy Joe Cox of Illinois; one sister: Carolyn Hughes of Carrolton and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter: Janet Bonnell; daughter-in-law: Lorri Crader Southern and one sister: Doris Cox. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors with Reverend Murl Nash officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
