Edith Brown

Edith Brown, age 99, of Springfield, Mo., passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016, at James River Care Center. Edith was born on Christmas Day, 1916, one of seven children of Arthur and Sallie Forqueran and she grew up and went to school in Slater, Missouri. She was married to Alfred Brown for 50 years and he preceded her in death. They had two daughters, Barbara and Janice, and six grandchildren, Pamela Jane, Bob Scott, Bill, Kim, Allyn, and John. She lived to see six great-grandchildren and four great-great- grandchildren, and she had a great deal of pride and interest in all of them. She worked in retail for many years, first at Jones Store in Kansas City and then at The Coach Light in Jefferson City. She was active in the Garden Club and many of the women she met there became friends for life. She had many other interests including traveling, antiquing, and flower arranging. Her friends and family benefited from her kindness and generosity and she will be sadly missed. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2016, with a visitation from 9:30 until the time of service at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Jefferson City.
