Helen Francis (Bondi) Markiano

Helen Francis (Bondi) Markiano, 95, of Jefferson City, Mo., formerly of Daytona Beach, Fla. and Chicago, Ill., passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 20, 2015. She was born November 9, 1920, in Chicago, the daughter of Elsie and Michael Bondi, who preceded her in death. Helen attended Hyde Park High School on the south side of Chicago. In 1943 she met, fell in love and married Charles. In 1950, the family moved to Hometown, Ill. (suburb of Chicago). In 1975, Helen and Charles moved to Daytona Beach, Fla., to be close to their children. She was an active member of her church and volunteered her time in many community organizations. She was a loving caregiver to her mother who suffered from Alzheimers as well as her husband who had cancer and her brother who had congestive heart failure. In 2005, she moved to Missouri to live with her son where she also volunteered in ministry at the Jefferson City Correctional Center. Helen was always giving her time to others. Helen was fiercely proud of her Chicago roots and loved the White Sox. Everyone loved Helen and she had many friends. She had a great smile and an infectious laugh. She was never afraid to let people know how she felt. Survivors include: her two children, Michael Markiano of Jefferson City, Mo. and Charlene Markiano of Berlin, Conn.; three grandchildren, Christina Sayer of Canton, Conn., Alicia Rodick of Lee Summit, Mo. and Shaina McDaniel of Jefferson City, Mo.; seven great-grandchildren, Madison, Alec and Anna Rodick, Dodge McDaniel, Bennett, Zachary and Eloise Sayer; cousins, Ron Bondi and Tom Bondi; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Charles; sisters, Rosemarie Crick and Dorothy McLane; and her brother, Joseph Bondi. Helen was cremated per her wishes. Helen was a beautiful, funny, loving and caring mother. She touched a lot of people's lives and she will be missed by many. We will never forget you Mom. Love you.
