Kenneth Collier Townley, 94, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Frontier Health and Rehabilitation Center in St. Charles. He was born on February 9, 1921, in Osage County, the son of the late Alvah Armstrong and Ina Jane (Collier) Townley. He was united in marriage on December 17, 1949 in Cedar City to Esther Johns, who preceded him in death on August 23, 2013. Kenneth served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater from 1942 thru 1946 and was awarded a bronze star. He earned a Mechanical Engineer Degree at the University of Missouri. Kenneth retired from the Missouri Highway Department in 1986 after 35 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jefferson City, was a sports fan, and enjoyed his hobby farm, woodworking, making furniture, and tinkering around the house. He is survived by his children: Michael Townley (Karen) of Florissant, Gail Townley of St. Louis and Dan Townley (Nancy) of Fallbrook, Calif.; one sister: Ruth Anderson of Albany, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Evelyn Townley of Kansas City; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers, Donald Townley and William Townley. Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Chamois. Memorial Celebration will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Chamois with Pastor Doyle Sager officiating.
