Carl E. Heidbreder, 74, of Jefferson City, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. He was born April 29, 1941, in Moniteau County, the son of Guilford H. and Edna A. (Rockelman) Heidbreder, both of whom preceded him in death. On April 18, 1997, he was united in marriage to Jeanette VanLoo, she survives of the home. He attended Surprise grade school and was a 1959 graduate of Cole County R1 High School in Russellville. During high school, he played basketball, baseball and participated in FFA where he earned the State Farmer Degree. Carl was a member of the Sonshine Boys church group and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 2693. He was employed with Scruggs Guhlman, The Highway Department, and retired from CenturyLink after thirty plus years of service. After retirement, he worked part time for Riley Chevrolet. He enjoyed watching racing including dirt track, sprint cars and NASCAR, fishing, hunting, gardening, his huge pumpkin patches, sports of all kinds, and loved his farm. Along with his wife, Jeanette, Carl is survived by his children: Cindy Depenthal, Carla Heidbreder, both of Jefferson City and Lisa Thomeczek (Matt) of Linn; brother: Alan Heidbreder (Rosalyn) of Columbia; grandchildren: Rachel Allen (Brad), Garrett Depenthal, Grant Depenthal, Paige Bax, Dylan Bax, Olivia Bax, and Ryan Bax. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter: Claire Renae Bax. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel with Pastor Scott Musselman officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
