Hazel Schaffner

Hazel E. Schaffner (nee Bunge), age 80, of Washington, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016, surrounded by her family at home. She was born on May 21, 1935, to the late Walter and the late Henrietta (nee Clyse) Bunge in Washington, Missouri. She was united in marriage to James Schaffner on April 4, 1958, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ. Mrs. Schaffner is survived by her husband, Jim Schaffner of Washington, Missouri; two daughters, Judith and husband Kenneth Heins of Joplin, Missouri and Janet Schaffner of Jefferson City, Missouri; two grandchildren, Jill Keller of Rogers, Arkansas and Jodi Garner of Carl Junction, Missouri; three great- grandchildren, Kai, Brecklyn, and Reese Keller; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Howard Bunge. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Washington. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, from 4 until 7 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, 1206 Jefferson St., Washington, Missouri 63090.
