Daniel Edward Sullivan, 57, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was born on November 15, 1958, in Hannibal, Missouri, a son of the late Joseph Edward and Vinita Ann (Tawney) Sullivan. He also lived in Perry, Missouri for four years. He was a 1977 graduate of Trenton High School, and went on to attend Trenton Junior College, Truman University, and University of Central Missouri. He obtained a Masters of Science degree in Psychology. On September 6, 1986, Daniel was united in marriage to Lori Ann Culp, who survives at their home. Daniel had a 30 year career as a Psychologist and Counselor at Fulton State Hospital, working at all levels of security. Mr. Sullivan had several interests. He especially liked to travel with family and friends. He also loved to fish, hunt mushrooms, and play golf. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City, where he served as an usher. He was a former member of the Jefferson City Jaycees. Daniel liked to tell the story that at the time of his birth, he and his mother were fighting for their lives and both nearly died. God stepped in and provided life for both. He served God in many ways, most notably by taking care of the mentally ill. He felt blessed by having such a close family growing up. Additionally, he was blessed with a loving wife and daughter. He didn't think of himself as a "great man", but rather a "good man." It's sad for him to depart from his family and friends, but will now move up to the next level. Along with his wife Lori, Daniel is also survived by a daughter: Hannah Kathryn Sullivan of the home, who is 17 years old and a junior at Jefferson City High School; two sisters: Jodee Fredrick of Liberty, Mo. and Kathy Pickett of Columbia, Mo.; three sisters-in-law: Louise Bird (Bruce), Linda Wintjen (Ronnie), Sue Linton (Glen); and three brothers-in-law: Gary Culp (Linda), Ralph Culp (Carol) all of Hannibal, Mo. and James Culp (Angie) of Mobile, Ala. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews with whom he was very close. Friends will be received from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Funeral Services will follow at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. Russell Bowder officiating. Interment will be private at a later date.
