William Reid "Bill" Tweedie III, age 59, passed from this life peacefully on Saturday, December 26, 2015, in Osage Beach, Missouri. Bill is the son of William and Kathy Carter Tweedie of Four Seasons, Missouri. His mother, Sue Williams Tweedie, preceded him in death in 1981. Bill was born in Joplin, Missouri on August 16, 1956. He spent his childhood in Jefferson City, Missouri and Lansing, Michigan. He attended Jefferson City High School and graduated from Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, Missouri. Upon graduation, he attended Missouri Southern in Joplin. For many years Bill lived and worked in St. Louis and Columbia in the grocery industry. He was very active in his church, and loved to work with the homeless. He felt a deep commitment and compassion for this mission work. He often shared all that he had, and befriended many during this time of his life. For the last few years, Bill was able to live at the Lake of the Ozarks in a lovely assisted living community, Osage Beach Rehabilitation and Health Care Center (OBRHCC). The Tweedie family would like to say thank you for the loving care and true family atmosphere that was shown to Bill during the time he lived there. He enjoyed making new friends and participating in the activities. The staff was kind, caring and loving. We all agree his years with OBRHCC were his very happiest. He knew he was loved and cared for by everyone there. Another heartfelt thank you to the compassionate staff in the Intensive Care Unit at Lake Regional. We could not have asked for better care for our son and brother. His final day was spent in hospice care in the Serenity Suite provided through the hospital by the Hansen family. It was a comforting experience in our time of sorrow. Bill is survived by his father and step-mother, as well as his sisters, Susan Tweedie Leslie (Chris) of Camdenton, Elizabeth (Boo) Tweedie Smith (Steve) of Minnesota, and step-sister, Ashly Carter Hanson (Mike) of Kansas City, as well as his niece and nephews, Jeff (Tara) Leslie and Julian; Sallie (Tyrus) Leslie House and Blair; Patrick, Peter and David Smith; Matt and Blake Hanson; and several aunts and cousins. He will be missed. A private ceremony was held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 in Jefferson City, Missouri. Burial was held in Riverview Cemetery in the Tweedie family plot. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Christian Fellowship Community Compassion Offering, 4600 Christian Fellowship Road, Columbia, Missouri 65203 or to the charity of the donorís choice.
