Hazel Mae Walker

Hazel Mae Walker, 94, of Jefferson City, Mo., departed this world on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at Villa Marie Nursing Home in Jefferson City. She was born in Enola, Ark., on August 13, 1920, the second of five children born to Lee Thurman Stivers and Floy Shock Stivers. Hazel was a member of the Centertown Baptist Church of 68t years. She excelled at sending cards and notes to her friends for all occasions. Hazel's "Southern Cooking" was always in high demand and she considered everyone a friend after only one introduction. Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Arks Strong of Conway, Ark.; two sons, Thurman A. Walker of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jack D. Walker of Jefferson City, Mo. She was also blessed with six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Annie Mathews of North Little Rock, Ark. , Doris Cory of Vilonia, Ark., and Erma Jean Olds of Tulsa, Okal.; one brother, Joe Stivers of North Little Rock, Ark.; and also her loving husband of 52 years, Truman Walker. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2015 at the funeral home. Officiating will be the Mr. Jack Bowlin. Burial will be in the Centertown Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Centertown Cemetery, c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of BOWLIN-CANTRIEL FUNERAL SERVICES, CALIFORNIA, MO.
