Eugene T. (Gene) Grapes

Eugene T. (Gene) Grapes, 98, of rural Arrow Rock, MO, died Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo. Born January 23, 1916, in Howard County, Mo., Gene was the son of the late Van Cleve Grapes and Pearl Green Grapes. On March 6, 1937, he married Evelyn Huber who preceded him in death on October 21, 2002. He lived in Saline County most of his life and retired from W.B. Young Company. He loved to hunt, fish, camp and be with his family. Survivors include one son, Ken Grapes and wife, Jenny, of Marshall; one daughter, Lorene Korte of California, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Gene was preceded in death by two sisters; four brothers; and one son-in-law, Walt Korte. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2015, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Brother Ken Mathes officiating. Burial will be in Old Lamine Cemetery. Visitation was from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 25, 2015, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Old Lamine Cemetery. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com
