Gregory Gene Distler, 51, of Jefferson City, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015, at SSM Health St. Maryís Hospital. He was born on June 26, 1963, in Jefferson City the son of Walter ìButchî Distler, who survives of California, Mo. and Darlene Quinn Distler, who preceded him in death. Greg was a lifelong resident of Jefferson City. He attended Jefferson City Public Schools and graduated from Honolulu High School in Hawaii. He attended Lincoln University. He served in the United States Navy. He worked at Great Central Truss Company for several years until he became disabled after an automobile accident. Greg was a master gardener and was known for his beautiful tomato plants. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed smoking meat and barbecuing. He was a bargain hunter and enjoyed going to garage sales. He also loved amusement parks and roller coasters and was a frequent visitor of Six Flags and Worlds of Fun. He is survived by: his lifetime companion, Lisa Alexander of the home; two daughters, Amanda Ponder and Heather Distler; one granddaughter, Rylee Tucker; one sister, Debbie Ash and husband Mark of California, Mo.; one brother, Jeff Distler and wife Gloria of Jefferson City; and one niece, Alondra Distler. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mike Quinn officiating. Interment will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
