Douglas Ray Petty

Douglas Ray Petty, 49, of New Bloomfield, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on February 17, 1965, the son of Larry Petty and JoAnn (Payne) Petty. He was united in marriage to Karen (Stegeman) Petty on October 26, 1996, in Wardsville, Mo. and she survives at their home. Doug was a 1983 graduate of Jefferson City High School. He attended St. Louis Community College in Kirkwood, Mo. and worked for many years at Unilever as a compounder. He enjoyed gardening, reading, fishing, music and playing video games with his children. He enjoyed watching movies at home and going to see them in the theater. Doug loved his wife, children, and spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Karen, Doug is survived by one daughter: Kelly Petty; two sons: Luke Petty, Nickolas Petty, all of the home; one sister: Deborah (Paul) Drummond of New Hampton, Mo.; three brothers: Rick (Jan) Petty, Kevin (Brenda) Petty, Jeff (Fran Bock) Petty, all of Jefferson City; his parents: Larry and JoAnn Petty of Jefferson City; his parents-in-law: Edwin and Pauline Stegeman of Wardsville; three sisters-in-law: Sheila (Joe) Gassner of Jefferson City, Marilyn (John) Dietzel of Jamestown, Diane (John) Matthews of Jamestown; one brother-in-law: Allen (Andrea) Stegeman of Wardsville and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2015, at St. Peter Catholic Church with Fr. Colin Franklin officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Petty Children Educational Fund.
