Adolph Lawrence Nilges, 92, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Oak Tree Villa. He was born on August 10, 1922, in Loose Creek, Mo., the son of the late Hubert and Sophie (Kremer) Nilges. On August 20, 1947, he was united in marriage to Catherine C. Niekamp, who preceded him in death on November 4, 2002. Adolph grew up in Loose Creek and attended school there. He was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. He worked at Milo H. Walz in his early years, he and his wife installed chain link fences for Sears and Montgomery Wards, he was a home builder and a life time farmer, he was very active and was still cutting wood last week. Adolph enjoyed the outdoors and loved the family gatherings. He is survived by one son: Larry Nilges (Mary Ann) of St. Martins; two daughters: Rita Hake (Norbert) of Jefferson City and Linda Prenger (Dale) of Taos; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one brother: Henry Nilges (Mary) of Loose Creek; two sisters-in-law: Anna Orscheln and Generose Kramel (James), both of Jefferson City; his good friend: Joe Schollmeyer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Adolph was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Catherine; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and George Kloeppel; brother and sister-in-law, Gus and Ermaline Nilges; sister-in-law, Mary Schneider; and brothers-in-law, George Orscheln and George Schneider. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 16, 2015 at St. Peters Catholic Church with Father John Schmitz officiating. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Peters Catholic Church Capital Campaign or for Masses.
