Mr. Jerry Don Mick Sr., 82 years old, of Jefferson City, Missouri,went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 5, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born on August 13, 1932, in Blytheville, Arkansas, a son of Huelen and Maude Earb Mick. He was united in marriage on August 31, 1957, in Hernando, Mississippi, to Jeanette E. McDaniel who survives at the home. He was a 1951 graduate of Canalou High School in Canalou, Missouri. Jerry served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1971, during the Korean and Vietnam era; he retired with 20 years of service 1951-1971, retiring at the rank of Technical Sergeant. In1971, Jerry served with the Missouri Department of Corrections for over 20 years retiring in 1991. Jerry was a faithful member of the Concord Baptist Church for over 20 years in Jefferson City, Missouri. He served in various ministries including delivering Christmas baskets to local nursing homes and for 15 years every Tuesday he would prepare the pews for Sunday services. He was also member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Jerry enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, and watching his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. Survivors include: his wife of 57 years, Jeanette Mick; two sons, Reverend Dr. Jerry Mick Jr. and his wife Jane of Bangor, Maine, and Daryl Mick and his wife Tammy of Waxahachie, Texas; two daughters, Tanja Mick Rose and her husband Colonel Douglas C. Rose Jr. stationed in Little Rock, Ark., and Pam Dumas and her husband Reverend Dr. Juaken Dumas, of Prospect, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren, Ryan Mick, Renee Mick Wyatt, Aaron Mick, Allen Mick, Austin Mick, Brittani Rose, Brandy Barlock, Shana Hovis, Bethany Pugh,David Dumas, and Jonathan Dumas; 15 great-grandchildren,Giana, Westyn, Laycee, B.J., Brandt, Blayke, Bayker, Basia, Christopher, Joshua, David, Haliegh, Dallas, Kohan, and Rimington; one sister, Emmalou Mick Fitzgerald. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Walker Mick and John Mick; along with one sister, Sunshine Mick. Visitation will be at Concord Baptist Church from 10-11 a.m.Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015.A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at Concord Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Jerry Mick Jr. officiating. Graveside service and interment with full military honors will be held at Riverview Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's and Related Disorders Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
