Janice K. Ramsey

Janice K. Ramsey, 68, of Portland, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Mercy Hospital, Washington, Missouri. Janice was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 20, 1946, the daughter of the late Homer and Maxine Watson. Janice was a member of Portland Baptist Church and was a union rep for CMCA. She worked for the Missouri Department of Social Services at the Montgomery City Youth Center, where she was a youth service specialist. Prior to that, she worked as a paramedic for St. Charles County. She also was a police officer for the Hermann Police Department from 1992-2000, later she was a deputy for Warren County from 2000-2001, and she was a DARE officer. She loved her dogs and enjoyed gardening. She was an avid reader and spent a lot of time researching the bible. Janice is survived by her two children: daughter, Cathy Slater and husband Mark of Roanoke, Indiana and a son, Chris Ramsey and wife Tina of Jefferson City; by two sisters, Joyce Ringsaker and husband Jim of Pontotoc, Mississippi and Linda Smith and husband Bob of High Ridge, Missouri; by a half-brother, Ronnie Watson and wife Jean of Wildwood, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Marsha Watson of Fort Wayne, Indiana; by a significant friend, Robert Sitton of Hermann and by three grandchildren, Sydney and Keefer Slater and Ian Ramsey. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Kenneth Watson. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, where funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Jason Gentry officiating. Burial will be at Oak Haven Memorial Gardens, Hermann, Missouri. Memorials may be given to Massas Creek Companion Animals. C/O Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home.
