Royal Kallenbach, 98, of Eldon, passed away Friday, January 2, 2015, at St. Joseph's Bluffs, Jefferson City. On February 1, 1916, he was born in Tuscumbia, the son of William and Cora Belle (Tompson) Kallenbach. On November 12, 1938, he married Helen Hicks in Brumley, who preceded him in death on October 15, 1998. Royal was a lifelong resident of Miller County. He lived his entire life farming, hunting, fishing and serving God. He was a member of the Business 54 Church of Christ, Eldon, Mo. Royal was active for many years in the Miller County Historical Society. He shared a love for reading especially the history of his family roots and Miller County and was a master storyteller. Many of his friends and all of his family were delighted time and time again with Royal's wonderful tales of hunting adventures. His stories will live on through us. Along with his passion for hunting, Royal was a master gardener. He believed in the earth and could grow just about anything. Many people throughout the area have experienced his famous tomatoes and magnificent blackberries. Royal will be missed by many but none more than his family. He was our rock, our beginning and our teacher. We love him.
