Clarence Herbert Schneider, 87, of Jefferson City, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at the Missouri Veterans Home, St. James, Mo. He was born December 3, 1927, in Jefferson City, the son of Carl Henry and Ophelia Pauline (Fischer) Schneider, who preceded him in death. On February 14, 1948, Clarence was united in marriage to Dorothy "Lucille' Goldammer, who preceded him in death. He attended Jefferson City High School and served our country in the United States Navy during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines. He was a co-owner of S&M Market in Jefferson City and then worked in Construction for Markway Construction for 17 years. Clarence was a member of Central United Church of Christ. He was proud to be a member of VFW Post #1003 and helped to start the Honor Guard for funerals and was a member of American Legion Post #5. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, playing cards and dominoes, dancing and fishing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved life and enjoyed a good joke. Clarence is survived by: two sons, Lonnie (Jan) Schneider of Jefferson City and Doug (Alison) Schneider of St. Peters; one daughter, Linda Klein of St. James, Mo. (Tracy Lain); two sisters, Elsie Hickman and Ruth Popp of Jefferson City; five grandchildren, Todd (Crystal) Schneider of Columbia, Bryan Schneider of Portland, Ore., Justin Schneider and Evan Schneider of St. Peters, Mo. and Danie Klein of Eugene, Ore.; and one great-grandchild, Josh Schneider of Columbia. He was preceded in death by: one brother, Carl Peter Schneider; and one sister, Mildred Sundermeyer. Family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel with Carol Barner officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
