Jake Fischer

January 1, 2015

Jake Fischer, age 44, of Russellville, Mo., passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014, at the University of Missouri Hospital. Jake was born May 9, 1970, and grew up in the Russellville, Mo., area, the son of Gary Fischer, who preceded him in death on May 22, 2012. Jake graduated from Russellville High School and it was during this time he met his soul mate and future wife, Amy Fischer. Jake and Amy married on February 3, 1989, and she survives at their home. To this union, they gave birth to a daughter, Dallas (husband, Ben) Payne, also of Russellville, Mo. Jake began a law enforcement career by attending the Missouri Sheriff's Training Academy, graduating in 1998. The majority of his long career was dedicated to illegal narcotics enforcement with local law enforcement agencies. He worked as an investigator with the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group (LANEG) and the Mid-Mo Drug Task Force (Mid-MO) for numerous years. Jake was passionate about illegal drug enforcement and committed himself fully to the citizens of the communities he worked. Through his dedication and hard work, he was influential to numerous people and encouraged them to join the law enforcement family. Many people who wear the badge today do so as a direct result of Jake's encouragement. Jake said someone had once encouraged him to become a police officer and he believed it was his duty to 'pay it forward' by encouraging others to do the same. He was more than successful in his mission to do so. After Jake's retirement from law enforcement, he and Amy opened JYD Recycling in Versailles, Mo. Jake enjoyed hunting, traveling, and working on his family farm where he and Amy operated Fischer's Berry Farm, Russellville, Mo. His free-time passion was riding his Harley Davidson Fat Boy and enjoyed many trips with Amy and their friends. He recently began competing in Figure 8 derbies and built his own cars to run in the shows. Jake will be remembered for his quick wit, brutal and consistent honesty and generous spirit. However, he will mostly be remembered as setting the standard for what it meant to be a man who loved his wife. Other survivors include his pride and joy, granddaughter, Augie, age 2, of Russellville, Mo., and numerous friends and loved ones. Visitation will be Saturday January 3, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Weber Funeral Home, Russellville, Mo. Memorials are suggested to donor's choice or to the family, c/o Weber Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the directions of Weber Funeral Home in Russellville, Mo. weberfuneralhome.net
