Wilma Lee Thompson

Wilma Lee Thompson, 95, of California, Mo., passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2013, at the Moniteau Care Center in California, Mo. She was born on June 7, 1918, in Rural Latham, Mo., the daughter of Rufus Hofstetter and Mona (Knife) Hofstetter. She was married December 1, 1934, in Tipton, Mo., to Hughie C. Thompson who preceded her in death on July 17, 1972. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in California, Mo. She worked at the Latham Hospital in California, and worked 27 years for Dr. Lionel Gallaghers office in California Mo. She was a graduate of the Latham High School. She is survived by two daughters: LaDonna Hand (Neil) of Keokuk, Iowa., Connie Hayes of Fort Worth, Texas.; four brothers, Don Hofstetter of California, Mo., Dale Hofstetter of Jefferson City, Mo., Ross Hofstetter of Boonville, Mo., and Kay Hofsetter of Tipton, Mo., four sisters: Delores Bestgen, Darlene Matthews of California, Mo., and Ramona Luebbert and Gene Coale of Jefferson City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Stefanie Wirths (Curtis) of Camdenton, Mo., Stuart DeLong of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Sara French (Michael) of Austin Texas; six great- grandchildren Keegan, Cale, McKenna Wirths of Camdenton, Arabella, William French of Austin Texas, Stella DeLong of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three step-grandchildren, Tony Hand and family of Alexandria, Mo., Diane Cunningham and family of Keokuk, Iowa., and James Hand and family of Keokuk, Iowa. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gilbert and Vernon Hofstetter and one sister, Nadine Garber. Funeral services will be at United Methodist Church Sunday, November 24, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be at California City Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Eric Moore and assisted by Mr. Jack Bowlin. Visitation will be Saturday November 23, 2013, at 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
