Bernard Louis "Ben" Wilbers, age 70, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday November 13, 2013, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. Ben was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph. He was a graduate of St. Elizabeth High School and Lincoln University, where he received his Masters of Education in Guidance and Counseling. Ben loved his work as a Guidance Counselor for the Russellville School District as well as South Callaway School District in Mokane. Ben was an avid fisherman and loved to travel with the love of his life, his wife Irene. Ben loved all his children and grandchildren and would often be found at one of their sporting or musical events. He was their biggest and sometimes most vocal supporter. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Irene of Jefferson City; three sons: Louis Wilbers and his wife Kathy of Blue Springs, Missouri, Mike Wilbers and his wife Patty of Holts Summit, Missouri and Jeff Wilbers and his wife Lee Ann of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one daughter: Julie Seymore and her husband Bo of Wentzville, Missouri and nine grandchildren: Matthew, Zach and Kelsey Wilbers, Jamie and Kristen Wilbers, Paige and Wyatt Seymore and Asher and Aiden Wilbers. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2013, at Houser-Millard Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2013, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with Fr. Dylan Schrader officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow in the Resurrection Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
