John David Haldiman

John David Haldiman, 60, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at his home with his family by his side. John David Haldiman was born on August 6, 1953, to Jack Paul Haldiman, Cottonwood, Ariz. and Mary Allean Ramsdell Campbell, Holts Summit, Mo. He was raised by his paternal grandparents, Paul Roy and Alverta Rose Heinen Haldiman who preceded him in death. He loved them very much and felt lucky to be loved and raised by such good people. David was a member and attended Annunciation Catholic Grade School and Church. After graduating from California High School in 1971, he attended college and played baseball at State Fair Community College. He finished his Bachelor's in Economics from the University of Central Missouri in 1977. David met Marcia Larimore in 1972. They dated throughout college and were married on March 24, 1979, at Annunciation Catholic Church in California, Mo. She survives at the home. Family was important to David. He was most proud of his children, Nate, Meagan, son-in-law, Luke and his beautiful granddaughter, Roselyn Jewel Shawhan. He called her his "Little Bit" and felt so blessed to be her grandpa. After college, David worked for Household Finance in Kansas City, Mo. He then was a "Workforce Development Manager" for 19 years for the Mo. Department of Economic Development. In 1997, David was appointed by the late Gov. Mel Carnahan as the Moniteau County Circuit Clerk and Recorder of Deeds. He felt it a privilege to serve the citizens of his county. He retired in June 2010. After retirement he worked as a parts runner for Illinois Valley Paving during the construction of the new Highway 50, and the U.S. Post Office in Jamestown Mo. David currently served as President of the Moniteau County Public Water Supply District #2. David loved sports and had several hobbies including playing cards, collecting baseball cards, a fantasy baseball league, trivia contests, and golf with friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed many weekends playing slow pitch softball with the Goobers softball team and watching his kids in their sports and activities. He was a huge fan of the KC Royals, Chiefs, Mizzou Tigers, and California Pintos. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a charter member of the California Eagles Club, California Country Club, and "20 Club". He was a past member of the Moniteau County Historical Society, Lions Club, Moniteau County Democrat Club, and Mid-Mo Democrat Club. In addition to his grandparents, David was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jacqueline Haldiman; an infant brother, Jack Earl Haldiman; his step-mother, Dolores Walton Haldiman; step-father, Robert Campbell; mother and father-in-law, Velma and W.N. Larimore; and brother-in-law, Wm. Cleo "Buddy" Larimore. David is survived by his immediate family; his mother and father; sisters, Gillian Cook, Debbie Gerlach, Dayna Estrello, Cyndie Ewy; and brothers, Rob Campbell, Rex Campbell, and David Gerlach. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends who meant a lot to him. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the Annunciation Catholic Church in California with a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the church also. Burial will be in Annunciation Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Roselyn J. Shawhan College fund or the Annunciation Catholic Church.
