Richard "Rick" H. Henry, age 42 years, of Shawnee, Kansas, a former Jefferson City resident, passed away Monday, November 4, 2013, at his home. He was born on June 3, 1971, in Kingsville, Texas, the son of Leon and Suzie Henry. He was married in 1997, to Stacy Overfield in Hope Lutheran Church in Shawnee, Kansas. Rick graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1989, where he played football and helped the Jays win a State Championship in 1988. He went on to attend the University of Missouri-Rolla and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He also continued his football career during those years at Rolla. Rick was a resident of Shawnee, Kansas since 1997, and employed as an IT consultant and worked on many projects over the years. An active and avid outdoorsman, Rick loved anything outdoors including fishing, biking, golfing, and archery. He especially cherished spending time golfing with his son, Tyler. Survivors include: his father, Leon Henry and his wife Karen of Jefferson City, Mo.; his mother, Suzie Henry of Columbia, Mo.; one son, Tyler Henry of Shawnee, Kansas; one sister, Audrey McFadden and her husband Rod of Columbia, Mo.; two nephews, Maxwell and Finley McFadden and many aunts, uncles, and friends. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon Friday, November 8, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Friday, November 8, 2013, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Russ Bowder officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Honey Creek, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Pete Adkins Scholarship Fund or Trinity Lutheran Church.
