Michael Gaines Mahoney

Michael Gaines Mahoney, 79, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013, at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehab. He was born June 13, 1934, in Hannibal, Missouri, son of the late Michael Francis "Frank" and Vivian (Gaines) Mahoney. He was a graduate Shelbyville High School in Shelbyville, Missouri, and a 1954 graduate of the University of Missouri - Rolla School of Mines. On August 3, 1963, Michael was united in marriage in Granite City, Illinois, to June Dortch, who survives at their home. Michael was a Civil Engineer for the Missouri Department of Transportation for 42 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army during peace time. He was a member of Chi Epsilon Fraternity, the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Miner Alumni Association. Along with his wife June of 50 years, Michael is also survived by three children: Carl Mahoney (wife Diana) of Jefferson City, Missouri, Michelle Mahoney of Houston, Texas, and Ryan Mahoney of Las Vegas, Nevada; and two grandchildren: Patrick Mahoney and Caitlyn Mahoney, both of Jefferson City, Missouri. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with Rev. Kevin Mabury officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
